Teaching Essentials

Effective, practical, and successful teaching and learning take many forms and draw from many value systems as well as disciplinary emphases. On this page, you will find 26 pdf slides of definitions, strategies, readings, and resources sites that we have organized under seven categories of teaching and learning.  The PDFs are meant to provide introductions to these areas of teaching and encourage further exploration. Please feel free to suggest additional categories and resources as you explore.

Many thanks to John Jay instructors and Masters’ students Florentina Lonati and Jacob Moses for curating these slides in partnership with TLC Director Gina Rae Foster. We have brought the content and design forward from 2019 to reflect our post-pandemic, Gen Z world.
