Professional Development Opportunities/Workshops

The EIHS Immigrant Student Success Center invites you to participate in the BRIDGE Certification Program (Building Resources for Immigrant Dreams, Growth, & Empowerment), a 9-session virtual certification course to strengthen our institutional capacity to support immigrant and undocumented students. It runs March-May 2026. Attend on zoom once per week (Weds or Thurs). We have space for 50 participants. We encourage you to register by Fri, Feb 27 with this BRIDGE Participant Intake Form.

Proposal Development Workshop Series for faculty in the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education (CASSHE Faculty). The CUNY Office of Research arranged this workshop series led by Dr. Barbara Walker (UC Santa Barbara). It includes:

  • A two-hour virtual workshop Fri, Feb 27, to build foundational research funding proposal development skills
  • A full-day, in-person workshop Fri, Mar 6, focused on hands-on research funding proposal development

Accessibility Training: Learn How to Make Materials Accessible:The Americans with Disabilities Act Title II updates take effect in April 2026, and now is the perfect time to strengthen your accessibility skills and empower your work with inclusive design! This series offered by CUNY CIS Training includes webinars focused on accessibility best practices, tools, and techniques to make your content usable for everyone:

  • Building Accessible Excel Spreadsheets (Tues, Mar 3, 1pm)
  • Ensuring Accessibility in Brightspace (Thurs, Mar 5, 10am)
  • Writing Effective Alternative Text (Mon, Mar 9, 12pm)
  • Making PDFs Accessible with Adobe Acrobat (Wed, Mar 11, 1pm)

Teaching Without Tech or AI: Build the Skills for Student Success, Thurs, Mar 5, 12-1pm on Zoom. This Hunter ACERT seminar explores student-centered teaching practices that minimize or eliminate AI and technology use, emphasizing the pedagogical value of simplicity, presence, and low-tech learning environments. Register-teach without tech.

Prizes and Awards

Call for Participation – United Nations Crime Congress 2026. John Jay has been granted permission by the Congress organizers to form a delegation and been granted ancillary sessions in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 25–30 April 2026. Sessions will be held in hybrid format, and align with the overall theme:  “Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age”. Further details on the Congress can be found here: UNODC Congress website.

Current John Jay full-time and part-time faculty, research staff and graduate students (MA or Ph.D.) are invited to submit a proposal to participate in the Congress by February 27, 2026. Details on submission are in the attached Call for Participation and below. Please direct questions to [email protected].

  • Your name, affiliation to John Jay and preferred email address
  • Title of your presentation
  • A 250-word abstract
  • A short bio (50 words or link)
  • Your preference for an in-person or online presentation

2.  To attend the Congress in person, but not present research at an ancillary session:

  • Your name, affiliation to John Jay and preferred email address
  • A letter of intent specifying your interest in attending the Congress
